What do you think about Midjourney?
Today I got to watch a group of people I know discussing who to commission for their DnD characters. Suddenly one person puts up a link to Midjourney. For those that don't know, midjourney is an AI software that you can feed different images and get a totally new piece of art. I don't know a lot about it, I have heard that no credits are needed for the artwork you fed into the AI. As soon as this was posted, several others got subscriptions. The artists being discussed were all but forgotten. As an artist I feel...bad, that this thing is here. It is really cool, like SO cool, but I know there will be some artists losing out on commissions because of it, so I can't bring myself to celebrate it. My question is this: What do you, the artist community on Devart think about Midjourney? Is it art in its own right? Is the AI using other works to create new pieces different from how we learn to make art? Should it be considered different and why?
You all rock.
So, I don't often express this, but I just wanted to thank each and every person who took an interest in my page. If you're watching me, I can't thank you enough, and I'm so happy you got something out of what I do.
People who handed me llama badges, you are amazing! Thank you. Without your support, running this account wouldn't be half as fun.
Thanks also to everyone who left a comment. I love it when people talk to me! Doesn't matter what skill level, language (we have google translate), niche interest or whatever. I love hearing from anyone who feels my work is worth something to say.
If you're too shy to reach out, that's ok too. I total
I LIVE!
So, as it says in my little intro blurb, I am a scientist. As such, I have had very little time for art recently, doing my PhD. Well, I got the darn thing (on Evolutionary Biology and honey bees basically) and have now settled into a new position. Science in terms of work is unpredictable at best so I can't guarantee I'll be active all the time, but it pained me not to be able to work on my art for so long. I am so happy to have a chance to breathe for now and I will definitely fill a lot of my free time trying to sharpen up my skills. I'll be open for a few character trades, just shoot me a note to ask.
To all my watchers who have not delet
The Work Goes On
2nd term has just started, if I can call it that. This is when the real research associated with my degree begins, and to do it, I'll have to travel away from my newly acquired home in England and venture down into the Limpopo province of South Africa.
As far as art goes I know I have been sorely lacking in provisions for my gallery through recent months, and I'm afraid it looks like painting may have to continue in the back seat for a while. But I will be bringing my tablet with me! I will always try, you never know when inspiration will hit, or a spare moment will poke its nose timidly above the ground line.
Though I may not have had time
