Wilbur character sheet w text

The first concept sketches of a main character in a new comic concept I'm working on with a good friend of mine . I am hoping to put up a folder in my gallery eventually, where you can all follow the adventure. I wrote this little blurb to accompany the post on the tumblr gallery for the comic, its not open to viewers yet though.

"Only called “Experiment V-5” for the beginning of the story Wilbur Orville Wright is given his name by Hazel when they first meet. It is a tribute to the inventors of powered flight and Wilbur wears the name proudly.

He was developed in vitro in the German genetics lab of the underground city and created to be the ultimate soldier, possessing size, strength and human intelligence. The gryphon was the last species to be created by the facility and there was the hope that it would be the key to turning the tables in the war. Much to the Chagrin of the military commanders however Wilbur proves himself a coward and unfit for duty, his actions on one occasion ostracize him from most who placed faith in his abilities.

Through this one man believes in Wilbur and will not give up on him, the professor responsible for his education. Through him Wilbur learns the importance of being true to oneself and fighting for what you believe in.

He introduces Wilbur to an action comic hero “The Red Ace” who pretends to be a coward as his alter ego Walter Wanes to prevent the discovery of his secret identity. Wilbur identifies with the hero and in the end this helps him overcome his fears and tap into the courageous champion he has had in him all along.

Aside from comic books Wilbur loves tinkering with any small gadget he can get his clawed hands on. He is exceptional with machines, especially those involving flight. He was never allowed to fly, though the fact that he has wings pushed him to learn all he could about the principles. A pair of old flight goggles, a relic from the beginning of the war was the only gift he ever received and he hardly ever taken them off.

Wilbur is also an accomplished writer and chronicles his thoughts through their adventure. Timid but humorous Wilbur walks along a path of self-discovery and finds that being human goes far beyond just looking like one."
